December 2nd, 2023: Streetside Classics Customer Appreciation and Open House Benefiting Toys for Tots

By Josh Leatherwood November 17, 2023

Family is often defined by some sort of biological lineage through generations of people and decades of history. A blood tie or legal union that groups folks together through time, eras, and experiences. With that in mind, it’s not difficult to understand how the concept of family is a central theme that’s woven through the car scene in both the traditional sense, and through deep relationships that explore common interests.

In this industry, we cherish cars with stories. In fact, many of us are drawn to this profession because we are part of families that indoctrinated us in the art of preservation well before we ever knew the thrill of driving. Also, consider some of the dear friends we’ve made in our communities through the love of these brilliant machines -- people we would’ve never crossed paths with had we not been enspelled by shiny paint and loud engines. Consider the club you cruise with on those sunny fall days, or the shop you frequent to provide the best care for your ride. Even the brands and national fraternities we join, like SEMA, Goodguys and Hot Rod Power Tour, promote a common goal and lifestyle through simple kinship. That, our friends, is the true meaning of automotive family!

Sometimes our blood relatives have no common interests beyond basic bonds and survival, but our car families do. The holidays are a time for giving, and affiliation directly influences giving. That’s likely why, each year when we reach out to our car community to announce the Streetside Classics Customer Appreciation and Open House, we see so many of our friends and collect so many gifts for Toys for Tots.
