The 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air is iconic not only for its styling but also for introducing the powerful small block V8 to the streets. So when you can find a restored hardtop that retains the iconic touches you love but also upgrades the flair, handling, and V8 power, then you know you've found an awesome cruising classic.
No two-tone from the factory was as vibrant as this one. The deep blue and metallic silver are a tasteful color combo, but the radiant clearcoat shine these give off also make sure you know this is an upgraded coupe with flair. And the appeal of this one is far more than just the two-tone. The Bel Air model has acres of chrome and stainless trim, and thankfully all appears present and shining on this coupe. It includes the extra-wide grille that looks like a V8 smile; the hood ornament that signified the jet age; and the intricate side trim that provides a clear dividing line for the two-tone. And of course, the big chrome bumpers add extra curves to the design as they wrap around the sides. These are reasons why we all love the icon, but this custom Chevy still has even more to offer.
Those Foose wheels fill the wheel wells with intimidation, and they're a clear indication this classy classic has some added performance chops.
The interior is a terrific mix of vintage and new. The wave pattern on the door panels, double-hump dash, and bright trim (including the bars across the headliner) all are great classic '55 Bel Air details. And the upgrades are well-integrated. For example, the black and white upholstery fits with the full interior color theme, but it has a fresh feel and Chevy bow tires on the back for a full custom appearance. And of course, the front bucket seats have better bolstering than anything that came out of the 1950s. It makes for a better driver's car. This upgraded cruiser feeling also comes from the column-mounted tach, Lokar shifter, auxiliary readouts in the dash, and smaller diameter steering wheel (the stock one also comes with the sale.) So while this one comes with an upgraded retro-style AM/FM/cassette stereo, we bet your real favorite soundtrack is all about rolling down the windows on this hardtop and listening to the large dual exhaust tips sing.
The clean walls of the engine bay and billet hood hinges are a great way to show off the V8 power. While the '55 Chevy launched the small block era, this one is a large and younger heart. It's a 383 crate V8 with center bolt valve covers. It has been upgraded with performance components, like Vortec aluminum heads, an air-gap intake, and topped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor. There's also a nice set of headers that add power while feeding the glasspack-style dual exhaust. It's a powerful motor that also has the right supporting components, like an MSD ignition system, serpentine belt, and an aluminum radiator w/electric fan. If that sounds like a terrific cruising package, then you'll love the upgraded suspension that includes tubular front A-arms and a rear sway bar. Add in a four-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes with front discs, and you know this sleek Bel Air was made to be shown off on the streets.
This hardtop is the kind of custom Chevy that you've patiently waited for all your life. And if you're quick enough, your reward is ready. Call today!!!
