We're really starting to look out for those few well-preserved and maintained classic Toyota trucks, and this example turns the desire up a notch. It's a 1986 Toyota SR5 Turbo 4x4. Yes, you read that correctly...This is from those few years when Toyota gave a few premium buyers a turbocharged boost to their legendary rugged line. And this well-preserved example gives you all the best pieces, including the XtraCab and cold-blowing air conditioning.

If you haven't already heard of Radwood, this truck is going to make you look up that car show. It celebrates the new era of vintage vehicles from the 1980s and 90s, and the triple blue stripe package hand painted on this one fits that idea perfectly. But what makes this whole package so retro-cool is the tubular steel done in blue on the push bar front bumper, roll bar bed, and rear double bumper. It's a striking package but it's far from this truck's full appeal. The stripes are quite new, but the white paint shows all the right signs of being the original application. The interior is loaded and well-preserved. For example, this Extra Cab model means more room to recline those bucket seats. And yes, they do have a special cloth upholstery identifying this as a Turbo model. It comes with a long list of features you don't find in many classic pickups, including power windows, power locks, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, and factory air conditioning now blowing cold with modern R134a refrigerant. Toyota's dual-spoke steering wheel feels as grippy as a sports car, and it's mounted on a tilt column, so you get a nice view of the large speedo and tach.

Under the hood is what makes this Toyota extra special. We love this generation pickup because the 22R motor is one of the most celebrated hardy engines out there. While this was in production for quite some time, there were only a couple of short years when Toyota offered a turbocharger direct from the factory. The fuel-injected turbo powerhouse gives this about a 20 percent boost over the standard truck, and so it feels quite peppy on the road. Power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive make it easy to take on trips. And since this was one of the first years for the 4x4 with an independent front end, you still get the off-road prowess you love while still getting a nice ride.

This is a well-kept truck where there's even a receipt for over $2,600 invested in 2022 on the braking system.
