The 1998 redesign also meant the Corvette's LS1 aluminum block V8 became available. This fuel-injected 5.7-liter is one of the most celebrated performance motors of its time, but the upgrades to this Trans Am didn't stop there. The added Vortec supercharger has been claimed to give this one 475 hp (we do not have a dyno to prove this). Although this car did not come from the factory with the WS6 package, it appears to have some of its features such as larger front sway bars, quad-snout Ram Air intake with larger air box, and badging. And when you really want to be noticed at the car show, with the press of a button you can open the electric exhaust cutouts to really let the exhaust breathe! This Pontiac might have all the right go-fast features, but because it's a modern classic, it's also everyday comfortable. This includes the convenience of a four-speed automatic w/overdrive, which provides enough gears to be quick off the line as well as cruise comfortably on the highway. Plus, there's power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and ABS. But as easy as it is to pilot this Pontiac, it has never been a daily driver. It has been cherished like a classic all its life and has averaged less than 850 miles per year.
