Growing up in the '80s, trucks this this 1983 Ford F-100 Stepside were common, but not many folks took care of them, so we hardly ever see them on the road anymore. If you had serious work to do, you typically bought a long bed or maybe something even bigger, meaning that a single-cab, stepside shortbed truck like this F-100 led a nice life as a daily driver and hobby vehicle. The F-100 was also the slightly lighter (in terms of gross weight) brother to the F150 back then, although as a practical application the difference was only made so that Ford could skirt catalytic convertor standards in the F-100, but nevertheless a lot of people misunderstood the dual monikers and assumed the F-100 couldn't handle the work of an F-150.
