1 OF 187 BUILT, 351W V8, 3SPD AUTO, PWR STEER/BRAKES, ORIGINALLY A 6-FIGURE CAR!

This 1980 Clenet Series II Cabriolet is a highly original example, which is a very good thing. That's because the company did not cut corners in its construction, and so this is a steel-bodied, fiberglass fender and running board car with real wood and leather. And this example is complete, right down to the signature crystal ash tray.

Neo-classic describes a vehicle that tries to mimic a vintage look. The long hood, flowing fenders, two-tone color, and continental-style spare tire are all part of a car that looks like it came from pre-WWII Europe. It really captures the vintage style, right down to the details, like the windshield overhang and display exhaust pipes that run through the fenders. But while there were many vehicles trying to get the elegance of a bygone era, most of those were fiberglass examples. A Clenet is a steel body hand-built by craftsmen. It was done in the grand tradition of coachbuilding. These are small-batch vehicles with a price that reserved them for only the rich and famous. So it's more than just a neo-classic, it's an instant classic. This example is one of less than 190 Series II cars made, and it's a true survivor. The 5k miles on the odometer is ... Description

The 5k miles on the odometer is believed to be actual, and just about everything on this car is believed to be original. So while the budget leaves room for improvement if you so desire, this is already rare and interesting from the moment you take possession.

More true survivor-style elegance awaits inside. As a true elegant and expensive machine, Clenet used only expensive and premium materials, like English leather on the seats and walnut wood for the dash and doors. It's a unique driving experience, right down to the way the gear selector works. So, just like the exterior, it's great to have to have this example looking so complete. You also got the best features for the time, including power windows, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. This even still retains provisions for factory air conditioning. All these controls are well integrated into the car with Rolls-Royce kind of care, because this was at a Rolls-Royce level of stataure...and the crystal ash tray is prominently on display in this convertible to remind you of its upper-class nature.

Clenets are American-built cars from California, and so they deserve a proper American powerplant. In 1980 the ideal motor was Ford's hardy 351 cubic-inch V8. It provides the right torque to move a substantial steel bodied machine, and since Lincoln also used them, these V8 knew how to be smooth. And today, that choice of motor means maintenance is easy and economical. The full setup, including the three-speed automatic transmission is believed to be original to the car. But the dual exhaust is newer, so that this one retains its a proper powerful but dignified tune. Power steering, power brakes, and a supple ride complete an easy driving package for this neo-classic.

Rarity, beauty, and craftsmanship also meet an affordable price. If you hurry, you can join the exclusive club of Clenet owners. Call now!
