VERY COOL VINTAGE FORD W/ KNOWN HISTORY, 239 FLATHEAD V8, 3 SPD MAN, DRIVES GR8!

World War II was barely a memory when this 1946 Ford pickup came off the line. In fact, it represents the first full model year for civilian production. So it's great to find an authentic truck with flathead V8 power and a story of being a true family pickup.

We all want our classics to have a story, and this one really gives the right feeling you want in a true vintage machine. We're told the consignor's grandfather bought it new and drove it in his small Texas town for a decade. He'd sell it to a friend, and three decades later, that man's son came back to the original owner's son and asked if he'd like the truck back. Not only did he buy it back, but he gave it a proper restoration in 1986 and it's been passed down ever since. The restoration wasn't about updating the truck, but just refreshing everything that would need to be done after 40 years of use. In fact, since that was nearly that halfway point between when this left the factory and now, the whole style has matured nicely. So you have the classic green paint with a patina style to the finish and body. There are fun details, like how the red on the wheels matches the door handles and Ford lettering. And the grille, ...

And the grille, headlight surround, and trim on the hood are done in contrasting cream to be distinctly bright without making this honest truck look too flashy. So this one gives off a vibe like it's fresh from the farm and feels it still wants to get to work today. You see this in the details, like the proper trailer hitch rear bumper, work-ready painted bed, and newer driver-ready tires with full-size spare mounted to the side.

The interior keeps the simple and classic feeling going. You get a tall airy cab, a long shifter, and a large steering dual-spoke wheel with that ideal classic grip. Just like the exterior, this one revels in being more functional than fancy. Still, it has the right inviting details like a newer cover on the bench seat, smooth paint on the dash top, and a handy spinner knob on the wheel. There's even a new turn signal package to make this easier to cruise.

The 239 cubic-inch flathead V8 has the right honest style to go with this truck. And like a true workhorse, this one fires up eagerly with a nice idle to make you feel confident in its abilities from the start. In fact, we're told this was driven at 65mph on the highway on it's way to our showroom! There have even been good investments including a newer battery and new front linkage. So there's a terrific nostalgic feel from the smooth action of the three-speed manual transmission and the distinct chug from the smooth V8.

Complete with the owner's manual, this is a family affair that wears its history with pride. So if you're looking for a true classic pickup, don't miss this Ford. Call today!!!
