This 1946 Packard Clipper Deluxe is one of those classics that's a true signpost to history. After all, we were just getting back to civilian production after WWII, and a large luxury car like this was a true sign of prosperous times ahead. So we are glad that today it's a terrific mix of history with just the right updates to make sure you can still show it with pride.
1946 was the 21st series, and it was one of the sleekest designs around. The front bumpers and grille were part of a nearly harmonious design, and they both look like the wind formed them around the body. The profile had the kind of beautifully formed fenders that made this comparable to Europeans like the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud and BMW 501 (or maybe those later legends even copied the Packard.) It's all so distinct and vintage, right down to the factory wheel covers and classic whitewalls. But one place you know this has certainly been upgraded is the paint. The gray with deep red top has a classic elegance, especially with the way red tapers on the hood. But the application has the smoothness that tells you it's a modern investment.

The interior continues this feeling of original-style motoring as the tasteful gray striped cloth has a vintage look. The space to spread out instantly reminds you why Packards were true luxury cruisers. And this really feels like a time machine as you slip behind the original wheel and gaze at the beautifully symmetrical dash that's quite complete to properly showcase its art deco style.
Under the hood is one of the truly great classic motors. The Packard straight-eight always draws attention with the long block proudly sitting in the middle. And the piano-style hood means there's always a good view. The whole engine bay has a great honest presentation, right down to details like the oil bath air cleaner and six-volt system. And once you're out on the road, you're reminded of the proper power and inherent smooth nature of the inline motor. This powerplant is mated to a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission, which means you get a great vintage feeling while maintaining complete control.
This Packard is coming out of a private collection, and it shows the added care that comes with it. You're looking at true American history offered for an obtainable price. Don't miss your chance, call today!
