This 1987 Ford Mustang proves it's worth your attention just by the fully-built turbocharged 5.0 motor. And then you also see the four-wheel disc brakes, five-speed, and plenty of suspension upgrades that prove this has been upgraded to a total performance build. But it's no wolf in sheep's clothing. The Mercedes-inspired metallic paint, polished wheels, vented hood, and mean stance make this a stand-out that can lead the pack.
It only takes a moment to realize you're looking at something special. The Graphite Gray metallic paint is said to be borrowed from Mercedes-AMG.
It gives you a clear indication of a serious investment just by how much shine it radiates in the sunlight. The notchback is a stronger and lighter body version compared to the fastback and convertibles, and so it's the right place to start for a performance build. But attention to the body panels combines with the smooth shine and deleted badges to really bring out the purity in this body style. This example doesn't try to be too outlandish in its exterior upgrades, but it also doesn't try to hide the power. The Trackspec Motorsport hood vents are well-integrated. Description
The SVE wheels have the kind of custom design you'd want to see on a cruiser, but the extra wide rear set and Mickey Thompson tires give this a true power car stance. And the SVO tail light panel is a nice nod to another turbo pony that Ford built during this generation.
This is built to be a power car, but it's not just some racetrack machine. You see this balance in the way the interior is presented. It forgoes weighty items like air conditioning and power windows. But it also doesn't strip out the full comfortable package. You have a well-presented fully furnished interior that has nice details like a smooth dash, a cup holder center console, a center armrest, working map lights, and a nice headliner. Plus, there's a fully upgraded sound system that includes an AM/FM/CD/XM stereo, Bluetooth, and a subwoofer in a custom trunk enclosure. And while comfortable, you also have a driver-focused package. It includes Recaro-like Flowfit seats, a Hurst shifter, power steering, and a Ford Performance Sparco steering wheel on a tilt column. Your gauge package has been upgraded to AutoMeter Sport-Comp II units, and the A-pillar now has essential readouts boost, air/fuel ratio, and fuel pressure.
This generation Mustang is famous for the fuel-injected 5.0-liter V8. So it's great to see one still under the hood. Of course, the large On3 Performance 60 ball bearing turbocharger kit is a sure sign that this one is not stock and is very powerful. But that's only the beginning of the story. The consignor is skilled and says he utilized a younger Ford Explorer V8 block and rebuilt it with GT40 Cobra heads, mild porting, a more aggressive camshaft, upgraded valves, and more. So you have quite a stout and powerful total package. There's even a dyno sheet showing 435 horsepower when boost is turned up to 8.5 lbs. (it's currently running 6 lbs.) There are the right additions you want on an upgraded coupe like this, including an MSD billet distributor, a large aluminum radiator, and an Optima red top battery. But the one you'll probably like the most is the exhaust cutout switch in the center console. It bypasses the mufflers to really let this growl. And you are in full control of the power and thunder thanks to a T5 five-speed manual transmission. There are more nice upgrades underneath, like a QA1 front sway bar, B&M rear diff cap, and subframe connectors. And the four-wheel power disc brakes even include upgrades from the Cobra program.
This custom build was a multi-year labor of love, so you know there are plenty more features we just didn't have room to mention. But give us a call today, and we'll run through all the upgrades that make this a sharply-presented professional-grade custom power build. Call today!!!
