This 1968 Plymouth Fury III convertible is the kind of classic that we're all on the lookout for. With V8 power, cool colors, and Mopar's historically low production numbers - less than 7k convertibles produced in '68 - this is a terrific way to get an affordable and distinct drop-top.
Stacked headlights, crisp overhangs, and a blocky stance gave the fourth-generation Plymouth Fury an instant presence. The 1968 car was the final year of the generation, and so it received some of the nicest details from its evolution. You see it in the form-hugging front bumper that's notched to accept those mean-looking headlights. And everything from the blocky stance to the mag-style stock wheels covers made this one look like it wanted to own the road. We also like a few subtle upgrades like the dual aerials and dual exhaust tips. This is coming off of long-term care. So while you may want to use the value price to update details, like the factory-correct beige paint, you'll certainly be impressed with the overall presentation. The black roof has a taut fit, the rear window is clear, the badging is complete, and we love how the red insert in the side trim gives you a preview of the interior. ... Description
There's a true cruiser style, right down to the whitewall tires and rear fender skirts.
As we mentioned before, the exterior trim is a great preview of the interior. In fact, there's even a roadster-style convertible tonneau in matching red, and so this full-sized Fury looks like a well-coordinated personal cruiser. There's even a fold-down center armrest for true individual driver comfort. But the overall impression of this one is a car that you'll easily invite family and friends along for the ride. So you'll likely take full advantage of the wide bench seats and plenty of space to spread out. Just like the exterior, you'll find the right upgrades like an AM/FM/CD stereo with aux input to enhance your driving music, and the air conditioning system is running R134a (but it will need servicing to blow cold again.) Plus, the full interior lighting package not only greets you when the door opens, but also they have been upgraded to be brighter and more useful.
The 318 cubic-inch V8 has been a mainstay for Mopar power. We like the classic air grabber, but you can also tell there have been some nice added investments. This includes a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Mopar finned valve covers, and a newer dual exhaust. It's backed by a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes to emphasize the easy-going road manners of these Plymouths.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, maintenance records, and service manuals. A well-coordinated and affordable classic convertible is always an appealing idea. So when it's also a V8 Mopar, you know it's an irresistible deal. Call today!!!
