1992 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ80 lives at the intersection of useful and distinct. After all, this costs less than a new large crossover or a 4x4 truck, and yet, it's more versatile than both of them. And there is an instant prestige earned from the outstandingly robust reputation of Land Cruisers. Plus, this even has a unique style that's fun for Japanese classics because it's in right-hand drive.
A Land Cruiser gives you an instant distinction. Toyota initially built them to be one of the most valuable tools in the toolbox, but soon they also became the Japanese Range Rover. It's not hard to see why the FJ80 has this level of following because it mixes ruggedness and style. The flat and wide front end puts a stern face forward. And while the fender flares are there for function, they are nicely rounded (even through the rear doors) to really give you a premium look. Plus, that split rear tailgate is ideal for sitting on at any ballgame or polo match. There may be pieces you want to update if you're trying to go purely upper-class, but we like the presentation that this one already has.
The dark green metallic paint has a touch of military feeling, and the six-lug wheels are done to be dark with a hint of metallic. So it's the right blend of flair and adventurer. And there are useful features, like the full-size spare, proper trailer hitch, a front electric winch, and full running boards. There's even a fender-mounted side mirror that is helpful and pure JDM cool.
The gray interior is stylishly sedate, which is an excellent way to present a loaded but versatile vehicle. This has the best features like power windows, power locks, a sunroof, tinted windows, cruise control, a rear defogger, an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo, and air conditioning. Two rows of adult-sized seating is quite attractive, especially when done in two-tone velour. And the rear has plenty of room for everyone's gear. The right-side steering wheel is quite fun, and this is also part of your true command position. From here, there are lovely comfort details, like the armrest center console and a tilt steering column. There are also controls for useful features like adjusting the suspension and the center locking differential.
One of the big reasons why this generation of Land Cruiser is so desirable is because of what's under the hood. The backbone of the robust reputation has been the motor, and the inline-six configuration has been part of that tradition. This was the last before the V8s, and so you have desirable features like the large 4.5-liter displacement, a multi-valve setup, and fuel injection. It has plenty of torque, so the two-speed transfer case and beefy axles make sure this is a true 4x4. This one is quite practical for those who want the most unique SUV in the neighborhood. It feels great on the road with a four-speed automatic transmission, overdrive, power steering, and four-wheel power disc brakes.
This is the classic for those wanting something affordable, useful, and distinct. And you know prices for a clean and complete Land Cruiser are rarely this well within reach. Call now!
