Description
Even if you are a diehard GM or Chrysler fan, there is simply no denying the enchanting appeal of the original Pony Car. While technically, the Ford Mustang debuted in April of 1964, the 1965 car was the first full year of the Blue Oval superstar. The only downside to owning one of these iconic cars is that there were nearly 700,000 of them sold in that first year and a half, so standing out in a crowd that big isn't easy. But, with a car like this 1965 Ford Mustang GT Tribute, you will indeed have a unique car. The beautiful Black Jade paint, complemented by the black vinyl top, gives this car an understated allure. While the GT-style grill lights do hint at the tribute aspect of this car's headline, the fact is that it is almost more of a Shelby tribute than anything else. Up front, the strut tower brace and hood scoop are reminiscent of the venerable GT350, while out back, the car's rear has been replaced with that of a GT500 from the 1967-1971 era, giving it a distinct look all its own. Under the hood sits an authentic 289 V-8 sporting an Edelbrock intake fed by a Holley double-pumper carb. Long tube headers send spent gasses through a dual exhaust, creating that authentic small-block Ford sound. A three-speed C4 automatic transmission handles shifting duties, while a traditional coil spring front/leaf spring rear suspension keeps the 14-inch wheels shod in 215/70R-14 rubber planted to the tarmac. Inside, the individualized personality of this car continues with a Grant GT steering wheel and a supplemental tachometer nestled below the stock Mustang dashboard. Three additional analog gauges sit between the A/C vents, displaying engine temperature, battery voltage, and oil pressure. A (relatively) modern Sony stereo system allows for CDs, while a contemporary gear display makes using the t-bar shifter that much easier.
